July 22, 2009. New souvenir shop opens

Russian narrow gauge railways made extensive use of mobile shops, to serve remote communities. Such shop was usually arranged in slightly rebuilt covered van, travelling with regular passenger train, stopping at most stations. The shop offered wide variety of products - from bread to paraffin oil.

Now in Pereslavl Museum there is also a mobile shop, arranged in the German trophy covered van, built by Wismar Waggonfabrik in 1934. Our shop sells not the foodstaffs or consumer goods, but a wide variety of souvenirs - books, models, cups, badges etc.
